Two important and basic computer terms you should know:

Operating System - (OS) The main program running on your computer which allows the computer to work at all (one common Operating System is Microsoft Windows, served out in various versions, all of them frustrating to beginners). Other OS's out there are LINUX (the OS best suited to computer geeks), and Mac OS, presently OSX or version 10
Internet Browser - a program running on your Operating System which allows you to "browse" the Internet (one common Internet Browser is Internet Explorer, others are Netscape Navigator, Mozilla Firefox and Safari for Macintosh)
