Molding and Pricing
Pricing for antlers are divided into two categories, Typical and Non-Typical.
Typical: Typical antler molds are based on the Boone and Crockett (BC) scoring system; for example, the molding cost for a 160 BC buck would be $5.00 per inch, making the mold $800.00. |
Non Typical: Non Typical antler molds are also based on the BC scoring system; for example, a 215 BC buck would cost $6.00 per inch, making the mold $1290.00. * |
| * Note: Some antlers are so Non Typical that they can only be categorized as “freakish”. These need to be priced separately. |
Replica Composition
| Competitors may argue that polymers used in our antler replication will yellow with time, even short periods of time. Though it is true that some polymers, some of the urethane polymers will yellow, we have carefully selected polymers with long term display in mind, in order to produce quality antler replicas that are meant to last. Precise formulas we use are a trade secret, but we will tell you that the formulas we use are suited well for this application. They are a blended recipe of resins used to create a strong, durable replica, one that receives color well, and retains it. |
| It has taken years for us to combine the products which we believe are the very best you will find. |
Procedure and Coloring Process
We have developed a special blend of solvents that actually etch into the surface of the resins to insure color fastness. Afterwards a special sealer is applied to protect the antler when it is handled. As our photos speak for themselves, each antler is colored to match the original.
We have maintained an extensive photo record, a library of all the original antlers we have replicated. If you were to buy several replicas, each would have a distinct color difference like their originals, unlike what you might get from other companies. |
